Hello again and happy Monday!
It was a very happy weekend in my neck of the woods because we only got 2 inches of snow out of the most recent storm and the freezing rain missed us completely! And even better, there’s no sign of snow in the 5 day forecast! Woohoo! I can’t believe March is only a week away. It’s definitely going to take a little longer to feel like spring around these parts.
On Saturday morning, my mom and I set out for another run with the temps hovering somewhere around 10 degrees. My knee felt relatively good on the flats, but flared up on the downhill sections still. Grr. Luckily, most of our route was flat and we got in 5 chilly miles.
After defrosting with several cups of coffee, my mom and I decided to give ourselves another dose of running by going to see the movie, McFarland USA. It was pretty good! Definitely a heartwarming story and it made me want to run (but in nice, warm California weather like in the movie, not this stupid New England winter.)
But now, onto more interesting things- I have a giveaway and review for you guys this week!
“MealEnders are great tasting, low-calorie, stimulant-free Signaling Lozenges that help you avoid overeating and master portion control using a combination of behavioral psychology and sensory science… [they] consist of two components: a sweet, outer reward layer and a cooling/tingling center.”
These two sensations are supposed to provide the feeling of dessert followed by a tingling “cleansed palate” feeling.
When I heard about the product, I was immediately interested in trying it. I’ll admit, I have a terrible sweet tooth. I crave dessert almost every night, even if I’ve had a filling dinner. So I thought these might be just the trick!
In a fortunate coincidence, I received these right around Valentine’s Day when there was an unusual amount of chocolate lurking in my house. 😉 First up, I tried the chocolate mint flavor after dinner one night (resisting the urge to have a chocolate truffle instead). After popping the mint-sized lozenge into my mouth, I was immediately surprised by the rich chocolate taste and how delicious it was! After the chocolate outer coating was gone, I picked up on more of the minty flavors, followed by that tingly feeling they had described. And holy cow, there was WAY more tingling than I expected! It definitely left me with that cleansed palate feeling, almost as if I had brushed my teeth.
Since then, I’ve also tried the mocha and citrus flavors – both delicious! I’ve had them at different times, from after lunch to late in the evening, and in my experience, they actually work. Now, if I had something as tempting as cheesecake in my house, I’m not sure I’d be able to pick one of these MealEnders over a nice, big piece, but as the CEO and founder explains on their website, “It will only work… if you have a commitment to lose (or maintain) weight and follow through with eating less.” So if you pick the MealEnder over dessert 6 out of 7 nights, I’d say that’s doing pretty good. 🙂
On their website, you can choose to purchase MealEnders through 3 different packages – one 25-piece pack for $14.95, three 25-piece packs for $34.95, or nine 25-piece packs for $89.95. They’re a little pricey, but much cheaper than a lot of other diet resources, so they might be worth a shot if you’re like me and have a bit of a dessert addiction. 🙂
